NYT following The Public Philosopher

About a year ago, we started this blog because we felt that an important part of our public discussion was, well, not very well discussed.  The idea of The Public Philosopher was to bring the philosophical elements of politics and public affairs to light in a compelling way.

The good news is that at least one of America’s leading news outlets agrees on the need to fill this space.  As part of its online Opinionator content, the New York Times just announced a new series called “The Stone”:

The Stone is a new opinion series that will feature the writings of contemporary philosophers on issues both timely and timeless – art, war, ethics, gender, popular culture and more.

The series will be moderated by Simon Critchley, who has contributed some great op-ed pieces very much in the TPP spirit over the years.  We applaud what the TImes is doing, and look forward to checking out forthcoming contributions.  We hope you do, too.
