Abortion, disability, a Republican star

According to Politico, Sarah Palin’s new persona has been as pro-life champion–celebrated for bringing her Down syndrome son to term.

To her fans, pro-life means pro-disability–a willingness to celebrate the diversity of life.

Question: with modern screening techniques, are issues of abortion and disability morally distinct or inextricably linked (internal rhyme unintentional)?  That is to ask, can you be pro-choice and pro-disability?
