MGM and Massachusetts

Andrew Sullivan draws attention to a bill under consideration in Massachusetts that would ban involuntary male genital mutilation.  Sullivan’s stance is that the practice should be banned generally, with generous exceptions made for religious practitioners.

My first take is that this is indeed a practice that is unnecessary medically and certainly infringes upon the right of a newborn.  However, it will be fascinating to see if public support can be drummed up for a topic that most people likely do not want to discuss.
