I wonder, will you actually lower health care costs with government running it (I think of the Post Office or the Pentagon), or will the government decide how much it is willing to pay and therefore force an appearance of cost savings.

Also, suppose I engage in "unhealthy behaviour" why are you or anyone else obligated to pay for me? Suppose I am genetically disposed to high blood pressure, and suppose I chose to drink colas, coffee and eat french fries all day long, you and the rest of society are now going to pay form my health care, shouldn't you have a say-so as to how I behave?
And finally, from a libertarian perspective, why is the government taking from you to pay for me? Where is your free will, your opportunity to exercise your own liberty and choose how to spend the fruits of your labor (again, suppose I am a lazy ofe?).

I think one of the underlying principles for me is who CAN pay for it? With workers' wages stagnant and more demands on them (education and health care being 2 of the key factors), there is a question IF the middle-class can afford it at all?

With the goal of health care reform being an attempt to lower the cost of health care, it may not be a bad idea to have additional middle class health burdens, but only if it is at least offset by decreases in costs.

Right now, we have a reverse distribution of health care costs. Younger folks who cost less (and make less) are the ones who are bearing the costs, whereas older people who are more expensive to cover and make more constitute the bulk of the costs, which makes the status quo completely unfair from a libertarian perspective.
